Igama elithi Mthombeni lichaza isiphethu esingasoze sashabalala. Isikole sabe sesiqanjwa ngesihlahla umthomo kwathiwa kuse Mthombeni nokwabantu bomphakathibasibona njengomthombo wolwazi lwemfundo esezingeni eliphakeme engasoze yashatshalaliswa.

Mthomeni Primary School was founded around 1943. Initially church services and school classes were held under the tree. This tree “umthomo” was transplanted and it flourished. “Umthombo” is a fountain that does not perish. The school was named Mthombeni, which to the local community signifies a fountain of knowledge and education that will never be destroyed.
